Ashfield House Wedding Photography

Ashfield House sits on the border of Lancashire and is one of those places that immediately gives you a down-to-earth, homely, you’ll-be-happy-here feeling! It is independently run, so when you get married there you feel as though you’re at home from home.

Their flexibility means you can really put your personality on the place, and that’s exactly what Lauren and Sam did with the beautiful blank canvas of a venue. It was already beautifully decked out for Christmas with lots of warm, sparkly additions including a glowing tree. This meant the bride and groom’s simple, modern green and white floral decor looked perfectly at home there. They really wanted something simplistic and beautiful, and the eucalyptus cut from their garden was a lovely personal touch.

An Ashfield House Christmas Wedding

The week before Christmas last year I had the pleasure of joining Lauren and Sam to shoot their wedding at exclusive wedding venue Ashfield House, and I truly couldn’t have asked for a more lovely way to finish the festive season!

The Wedding Day

The whole day was such a joy to capture because of how connected everybody was – Lauren’s family are clearly so close, and it’s always easy to photograph people when they’re so full of emotion. In the morning Lauren Facetimed some of her family who weren’t able to come to the wedding due to Covid and, as she stood there in her simple yet stunning dress and Jimmy Choos, the whole bridal prep room was in tears. As a surprise for Lauren, they even dressed up in their wedding guest attire on the other end of the phone!

Lauren’s mum helped her into her dress which was a touching moment to capture – they couldn’t stop smiling! There was also a beautiful gift from her dad, which set everybody off in more floods of tears. When it was time to do the father-daughter reveal it was just stunning, and her dad was absolutely beaming with pride. There may even have been a few tears from me, behind the camera!

The Wedding Ceremony

Lauren and Sam’s ceremony as Ashfield was beautifully decorated with a simple candlelit aisle and a blossom tree, and it was clear as soon as they came together that they are a total match made in heaven. Lauren never stopped smiling all day, and she and her three bridesmaids (all in festive green!) were the loveliest group of friends. Taking Lauren and Sam’s couple portraits was an absolute breeze – they were so connected and just loving every second of their day together! In the evening the dancefloor was packed full of their friends and family, and everybody danced the night away together…just the perfect end to a testing year!

I always like to ask my couples why they chose to work with me to capture their wedding, and Lauren and Sam said this;

‘Sally’s photographs immediately stood out for me – I just knew right away she would be the one to capture our special day. We wanted to ensure we had a relaxing day filled with those unplanned moments, to remember for the rest of our lives’
