Abi and Jamie’s love story began in high school with a memorable exchange that sparked a connection. Today, I feel thrilled to be part of their beautiful celebration as their chosen Moddershall Oaks wedding photographer.
“What you looking at?”
“I’m not sure, but it’s staring back”
And with those immortal words, Abi and Jamie became, well, Abi and Jamie! That was way back when they were in high school. Remarkably, Abi, in Year 9, used to get giddy whenever she saw the Year 11 boys, especially Jamie! After their exchange in the gym hall Abi added Jamie on Facebook and the rest is history!
Moddershall Oaks, nestled in 72 acres of stunning Staffordshire countryside, offers a luxurious country retreat experience. As well as spa facilities, Moddershall Oaks boasts an award-winning wedding venue. This is where Abi and Jamie chose to hold their ceremony and wedding reception.
Depending on the season Moddershall Oaks offers two incredible ceremony spaces. Couples getting married in the warmer months can choose to say their vows right next to the tranquil lake. Those couples opting for an autumn or winter wedding hold their ceremony in the contemporary and stylish Venue, Moddershall Oaks’ purpose-built events space.
Opting for a November wedding, Abi and Jamie held their entire day in The Venue. That morning I joined Abi and her bridesmaids who were all getting ready in the lovely Blush Lounge. This ultra-stylish sanctuary is the perfect spot for pampering in the run-up to the celebrations. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and Abi didn’t stop laughing and smiling all morning. She was surrounded by her best friends and family and was absolutely in her element.
I spent some time capturing all the details, from her dazzling Ronald Joyce dress to her personalized denim jacket (so cool!) and delicate wedding jewelry. Once Abi was ready we made our way out to meet her Dad who had been waiting so patiently for his girl. There was so much emotion when he set eyes on her for the first time. I could really feel his pride and love for Abi. What a moment!
Winter-Themed Wedding
Meanwhile, Jamie and his groomsmen had gathered in the bar area to greet guests and calm Jamie’s nerves ahead of the ceremony. To be fair, he was full of smiles and just couldn’t wait to see Abi!
I absolutely loved the cozy winter theme that Abi and Jamie had gone for. They’d filled the ceremony space with candles and lovely dark green foliage. A striking, wooden hexagon structure stood at the top of the room. Draped with pale pink fabric, like their wedding chairs, it made a beautiful backdrop to their vows.
This beautiful, modern theme continued throughout the day. Their wedding tables were decorated with circular copper centerpieces, hung with candles, and covered in green leaves and foliage. Giant LOVE letters provided more twinkling light and I love the crisp wall that Abi and Jamie put together. Perfect for an evening snack!
I loved every minute of Abi and Jamie’s day. From the emotional ceremony to the relaxed drinks reception, beautiful wedding portraits on the grounds, and the speeches that had everyone in tears. The day ended with an energetic party, guests piled onto the dancefloor and partied the night away thanks to the fab Dave Dee Discos.
