Laura and Dave – Peak Edge Wedding Photographer

“Sally is a true professional and her talent is clear to see. She’s so easy to work with and we trusted her completely!

We loved her approach to wedding photography; she totally got our style, and we loved her style too- natural, romantic, and candid photos.”

I was so excited to be back at The Peak Edge Hotel, it’s one of my all-time favourite wedding venues and I always have a great time whenever I’m there.

When Laura emailed me, “Take one Mancunian lad about town and one sassy Yorkshire lass, stick them together and you have us!” I knew it would be an incredible wedding – and I guessed it would be a brilliant party too!

Wedding Photographer at the Peak Edge Hotel

The Peak Edge Hotel has been hosting weddings, in its current form, since 2018. However, there’s been a pub on the site since 1788!

Laura and Dave are both self-confessed big old romantics. And you don’t get much more romantic than a historical country pub venue, surrounded on all sides by rolling countryside and the Peak District hills.

They had planned a springtime wedding, and although there were a few setbacks and postponements thanks to Covid, they finally got their wish in May last year.

I started the day with Laura, who was getting ready in her family home. The atmosphere was full of excitement and Laura, along with her three bridesmaids and flower girl, couldn’t wait to get the celebrations started.

Luckily the morning flew past and before long Laura’s mum was helping her into her intricately detailed wedding dress. It was such a sweet moment for the two of them to share. A classic car whisked the bridesmaids off to the ceremony and it was time for Laura and her Dad to spend a few minutes together. It was emotional!

Over at the church, Dave was laughing and joking with his best man, although I think the nerves started to kick in a little when he heard that Laura had arrived. They were both so happy to see each other and throughout the ceremony, they kept sharing little jokes and giggles.

Peak Edge Hotel Weddings

The reception room at the Peak Edge Hotel looked fab. There were amazing florals everywhere and miniature Manchester Gin bottles, a nod to Dave’s beloved city. They even had two wedding cakes, such a great idea! Laura’s cake was a classic white cake, beautifully decorated with pastel blooms. Dave’s cake was full of Star Wars! Complete with Princess Laura and a Dave Solo – plus Chewbacca cat. I loved it!

After some hilarious speeches, a very emotional FaceTime call (yes, I was wiping away a tear too!) and some excellent dance moves it was time for me to call it a night and leave them all partying. I took a few golden hour portraits of Dave and Laura then let them head straight back to the dancefloor. I drove away with a huge smile on my face, I loved every minute!
